All these pictures were taken while the subject is in the shade and therefore is not squinting.  James Studio uses a portable studio strobe and a soft box to provide soft light.  The softbox lights the whole person so it looks very natural.  All this is done while still showing beautiful backgrounds pleasantly out of focus.
